Less is More Week 66 Colour Challenge

Well this week the Less is More colour challenge from the lovely Mandi and Chrissie is to use yellow.  I often use yellow when colouring flowers, I find I can blend it with a hint of orange and it usually looks lovely even though I say so myself!  So my personal challenge was to make a card using yellow but not using flowers.

Does anyone else design cards in their head as an aid to sleep, or is it just me?  Anyway, having slept on it as it were I made a couple of cards, and wasn't sure if they fitted the LIM style rules.  Then I made this one which I prefer.

I used a Memory Box butterfly die cut in black and layered onto a piece of card coloured with Brilliance ink pads and mounted it onto a scallop frame.

For subtle sheen you can't beat these fabulous ink pads, even though they've been around for ages.  Hopefully you can see it at this angle, particularly if you zoom in close.

I've also included two more yellow cards that I made, but I don't think there's enough white space, have a look and see what you think.
This one is white embossed and paper pieced with yellow card .  I like the white contrasting with the brown of the kraft.  The house stamp is part of an A4 sheet of stamps that a friend of mine had made up with her own artwork.  The flower is an old old Stampendous one (anyone else remember their Couleur de Vie range?) and a freehand sun.

I die cut a Cheery Lynn layered flower three times in vellum for this.  I've only just noticed the corner of the paper curling up, whoops, must stick that down.

Sorry, this turned into a long post.  As always, thanks for looking.  I really appreciate all your comments as I'm new to challenges and need lots of feedback, both positive and constructive.

  3. Wow such a striking card...love the butterfly. I love using my brilliance inkpads for the shimmer they give, they are my oldest inkpads and are so juicy still :0)
I love your second card too, Chrissie hit the nail on the head...it reminds me of the pictures school children draw and the touches of yellow are perfect :0)
